Why??
I have been traveling in Mexico & Central America for many years and this is something I just don't understand.Below are some websites that might be of help to you.Hopefully you will find someone of a like mind through these links or someone will see your question and will answer you here with the information you seek. What you and others like you are doing makes me so very sad.I'm more thankful every day for the Darrien Gap, but that will no doubt be the next challenge for you so that you may continue to blantantly flaunt your conspicuous consumption to the poor of of yet another continent.

I don't remember there being much in the way of RV parks in Guatemala; its a very poor country. Also, an RV will mark you out as a very conspicuous Rich Foreigner, which may not be good given Guatemala's high crime rates. The roads are narrow and winding and not well maintained and the drivers are reckless and unpredictable. If I recall, the road connecting Belize and Guatemala is dirt.
Anyway, hotels are so much cheaper you could afford some pretty nice digs, especially with what you'd save in gas. As for public transport- weeell, Mexico has excellent deluxe buses, while Guatemala has decrepit 30-year old ex-Greyhound buses, but there are vans and shuttles for tourists. |

Let me get this straight. You are going to drive through mexico to Belize and Guatemala? First. You are INSANE. 2nd. Youll never make it alive. and 3rd if you do make it alive most of your stuff will be stolen in Mexico and whats left will be stolen in Belize. Youll be empty handed when you get to Guatemala. Seriously. Call the state dept. Mexico is NOT safe for travel. If youre hell bent on going, buy a 50 cal ma deuce and mount it on a ring on the top of your RV and keep it manned. |

I have been living in Belize for over two years and have never seen a RV anywhere and, by extension, an RV park. However, if you are determined in this area I would just contact resorts in areas you plan to visit and you could probably make arrangements to stay on their property for a fee. |

I don't believe there are any RV parks in Guatemala, and I know in Guatemala it is simply not safe, you may be fortunate enough that nothing happens. I am from guatemala, its not like I know every single area like the back of my hand, but if you find yourself in the wrong place, you could very well lose your life. Robbers are no longer content by taking things, if they get the chance they could kill you. If you are going to go, take a private taxi with someone who knows the areas. or take a plane. there is a very nice hotel with the best service, very cheap since it is not a big hotel in panajachel, go down a couple streets then you are at the lake and there are a couple of volcanos, spectacular view! |
