I read somewhere that a majority of people in Venezuela use a hammock for a bed, any confirmation on that?

Additional Details
*EDIT*
I never thought for a second that people in Venezuela didn't have houses or other modern amenities, but I found on some website that a lot of people had a hammock in place of a bed. It sounded like a pretty crazy statistic so I thought I'd check. Is there anybody out there that has a normal house but a hammock in place of a bed?

Mrs. Obama rules!
I am sorry to tell you that this is what ignorant people think of most countries in South America. Yes, there are still natives living in the jungles and highlands but that's only a very small percentage of the population. People in Venezuela have houses made of bricks, and have beds, internet, tooth brushes, cars and everything else any american guy has at home.

LOL ! NO!!!!!! maybe some natives here and that would be like 1000 or less and we are a total of 26 millons of ppl!

Though we do, many more of us have hammocks besides our regular beds in our rooms or living rooms, if we have the space. That we use to relax... just the way americans use them... and like smtimes if we have a guest and we dont have an extra bed for them we can make him use the hammock or we use the hammock... for one night wont kill anyone! hehehehe... *been there*

BAGOFSWAGS
I would be surprised if it is over 2% of the population

altaircas
Ehhh, false... most of the people that sleeps in hammocks are vacationing or working...but not on a regular basis. We have very poor people and very wealthy...and everything in between. Most of the people has tv sets, kitchens, even in the poorer barrios have Direct TV.

Alej
Some people use hammocks but I don't think it's the majority. The natives in the Amazon use them as well as the fisherman's population in the coasts.
In the cities people don't use them much to sleep on.

Oh lord!!! help me...hammocks in Venezuela are just like hammocks in the US...to relax, read the paper in your porch, etc..
A very small percentage of the population have them a primary bed because...THERE ARE THE NATIVE VENEZUELAN THAT LIVE IN THE JUNGLE.
The people in Venezuela sleep in beds, drive cars to work or take the subway, eat with silverware, have Internet, and cable/satellite...do some more reading....please..
