Yeah its strange as it probably is no more dangerous than parts of Central America or Peru & Columbia is a stunning country.

Colombia is a dangerous place to visit, the FARCs are active and they are the leaders in kidnapping and they have drugs problems as well.

well u need to understand that alot of things affect the "exotic nature" of a destination...Columbia is no doubt one of the greatest spots of interest in the world today but most of its publicity is owed to kidnapings! Particularly that of Ingrid Betancourt...
