There is no visa over 90 days. II know the web site says 60 but often when you get to DAS, you can get 90 days if you have a good reason. Be sure to have sufficient cash with you.. maybe $500.00 so that you can change that at the airport. then bring your Debit card. MOST ATMS in Colombia will accept them (Da Vivienda is good Caja Social is not) and its TONS cheaper than the exchange houses. Colombia CAN be dangerous you need to be careful. San Augustin, Ciudad Perdida, lots of places in Choco, just ask the LOCALS, the US Embassy still says to not travel by Bus. Now, especially in the Holiday season, the Colombian army LINES the roads.. they are everywhere. Just be smart. Dont flash a lot of cash... dont wear spendy clothes (unless you are in the T zone in Bogota) Do go rumbiar at Andres Carne De Res, go to Villavicencio, see zipaquira, Colombia is a wonderful, beautiful country. Just be smart. |

Ugh, forget that first answer. Another uninformed person who has never been to Colombia and who is now commenting on how "dangerous it is", not actually knowing that, before Uribe became president, there were thousands of kidnappings per year. Last year, there were approximately 100 kidnappings. The country is safe, please, do go there and enjoy yourself.
I'll look into the visa thing for you; my dad is in Colombia now (he has dual citizenship) and he would know the answer to your question. I'll email you to your Yahoo answers account when I find out. |

Visit your local consulate or embassy in your home country first, then talk to them about the specifics of your travel (education, buisiness, just for fun) and figure out your country's policies about forgein stay and travel. |

The U.S. State Dep't consular information sheet on Columbia states that U.S. citizens may visit Colombia for 60 days without a visa. If you wish to stay longer, you may apply for an extension. The Colombian embassy website states the same thing. There is no information on the embassy website about any visas avail. for longer periods of ime for tourists. You may CONTACT the embassy through the 2nd site below to ask your question. I beieve this is the only way to get accurate information. |

You will need to apply for a short term visitor's visa also known as a "TV" Visa. The fee is US$100.
Here is the application:
http://www.colombiaemb.org/opencms/opencms/system/galleries/download/consulates/visaapp.pdf
You will also need to take 2 passport-style photographs. Once you have all these items together, you can visit the closest Colombian consulate or embassy in your area to get it issued. |
