In my experience, the best time to go to machu picchu is Late June. From late September until late April (sometimes even May) is the rainy season in the Andes Mountains. I like late June because the rain season is just over, so everything is still green, but you are less likely to be caught by rain during your visit. Bear in mind that Machu Picchu is in the Amazon Jungle (Yup, you heard right, it is at the point were the Andes meet the Amazon Basin) so there is always a chance of rain.

Actually those months are like Spring time over there...

November, December, January is summer time in Peru so that is the best time to go...escape from the cold winter in the US and go there when it's summer :)

Don't forget it can rain most anytime. However with that said, I was just there early December and the weather was great.

MP is defiantly a must see!

My suggestion is to allow more than one day, so many people only allow one day. I would suggest allowing 3 days.

I would go In the dry season Its during our summer, it does live up to its name i have a relative that lives in cuzco that helped me plan my trip last year. The downside is its the "high" season so things might be pricier
