Hi I sure do think it's worth while ,after visiting Brazil in May this year[07] I reckon florianopolia in Brazil is a great place to visit, the local people are friendly the place is fantastic incredible views simple and cheap.Don't forget to visit the Iguassu Falls I hired a car and drove out there via Curitiba,The tourist train that runs out from Curitiba is also a great and specular ride.An unforgetable time and am going back to Brazil in late September to check out what I missed the last time.

it is a great country. But just do not stay in the big cities like sao paolo or Rio de Janeiro. Travel around the cost (the north of brazil in the best).

Brazil is a very, very big country. Make sure you know where you want to go, preventing yourself from traveling up and down and missing out a lot. We just came home on Aug.3 after a couple of month in Brazil (being the end of a trip throughout the American continent)
We visited (among other things) Iguassu Waterfall and the Ave Bird park which is very close to the falls and also the Itaipu Dam (great place to visit, FREE and all in English! too). We also visited Ouro Preto (a city being an Unesco monument) with Mariana (also an old village) very close) and visited lively Curitiba.
Years ago we also visited Rio (but we prefer Buenos Aires) but being in Brazil it's probably worth visiting anyway.
Pantanal is also very beautiful to visit. For once you'll get the change to actually see the animals which isn't so easy in the bush/amazonforest.
Knowing a little Portuguese will help tremendously while traveling at furthermore northern states/provinces.
