sonomd is right. You do not need a visa if you have a U.S or British passport.
And again the people in Latin America love tourists as it is not foten we see them. It is only a few government groups that hate the U.S not the people themselves.

YOU DON'T NEED VISA'S FOR ANY LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRY IF YOU'RE AMERICAN. IN CHILE YOU PURCHASE YOUR VISA AT THE AIRPORT UPON ARRIVAL (APPROX. $50.00). CONTRARY TO WHAT THESE PEOPLE ABOVE SAY, LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES ARE NOT NOT NOT ANTI-US!!!! ONLY VERY HIGH UP GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS IN BOLIVIA, VENEZUELA, AND ECUADOR SHARE THAT SENTIMENT...BUT CERTAINLY NOT THE GENERAL POPULATION.

NO WAY! they do that in europe because all the nations are part of the european union. there's no way to do that in south america. also, a lot of nations down there hate the u.s.
i would reccomend going to colombia. it's beautiful, and they are probably the most friendly to u.s.
