I will be honeymooning in Aruba this summer, should I take a day trip to Caracas?
I don't know a ton about the city but I think it would be neat to see South America. I've read some reports however about it being fairly dangerous there. Any thoughts/experiences to share? I am a well-seasoned traveler but I'm not so sure about my fiancee. Thanks for your help!
I won't recommend Caracas...it isn't a touristic place anymore. If you'd like to go to Venezuela think about the Andes (Merida), the rain forest (Angel's falls) or Los Roques. Though I think these places will take more than a day to explore.

Venezuela, especially Caracas has become inconceivably dangerous.
I suggest you take precautions if you want to 'feel the heat'.
What's wrong with Aruba????
If you want to go to Venezuela, head to Margarita Island instead.

When you have the chance to explore; do it! Just not in venezuela. Try the rainforests in brazil if possible. Talk it over with your fiancee, get some brouchures, and if your both comfortable with the idea and can afford it, go for it!

Too dangerous! Crime is really rampant in Venezuela now - not the time to visit. Take a separate trip and go to Brazil, its a blast.
