In Salvadoran cuisine (La cocina salvadoreña), the typical food is similar to its neighboring Latin countries. It provides a combination of Native Indian cuisine and European cuisine. The most famous food in El Salvador is "La pupusa" (Maize dumpling). In El Salvador the biggest culinary problem is food deficiency. Many Salvadorans don't have enough to buy food. My dad is a good example, when he was growing up in El Salvador, my grandparents couldn't always provide solid food so they depended on eating "tortillas con leche" or a small bowl of milk with shredded tortilla mixid with some salt. That's obviously not a solid nutritional meal to sustain a person. In worst cases most of the poor Salvadoran's don't eat at all.
You can visit these sites for more info on El Salvador.
