You're worrying over nothing!
No one in Peru who has a modern lifestyle would cook Guinea Pig at home. You would have to go to certain restaurants for that matter.
People of the Highlands of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador who live in a way that haven't changed much since the XV! century, they live in houses were there are no rooms inside, on one corner they have the Kitchen-Warehouse and the Guinea Pigs are inside the dark interior on the loose, they don't run away because outside is so cold that they wont stand a chance on surviving. On lower lands they would keep them in cages.
They only pick them out on important occations for it's considered as a delicatesen. A proof of this is seen inside the cathedral of Cuzco, in a painting of the Last Supper, the "Picante de Cuy" is the main dish and is set in front of Jesus.

No but if you like maybe you can help dress them up in costumes like they do:

I don't think tour guides would have a good rep if they made tourists eat guinea pigs. |

haha well nobody can force you to do anything
i highly doubt but if they do ask you to just say no thanks and be respectful about it.
and ask what you're eating as well if they in fact serve guinea pigs

Is this a troll question or are you for real? Of course you choose what to eat or not. You are a tourist and tour guide can't in whatever way force you to eat something. They can recommend things though. Furthermore, being Peruvian, it's worth a try imo. But again, it's all up to you.
But I agree with above when they say Peruvian food = best! :) |

No you would not have to eat guinea pig, they can not force you to do that whatsoever.. Nor would they try and make you either.. |

NO. It is not offensive or required to eat anything you don't want to in Peru. I am Peruvian/American and trust me, it will be fine. There are many vegetarians and such as well, and guinea pigs is actually not that common a plate in Peru. The most famous is Pollo a La Brasa which is roasted chicken that is to die for! And there is also the famouse seafood: Ceviche.
Have fun in Peru! |

wtf! I lived in Peru for 12 years, I never witnessed anyone eating a guinea pig or any hosehold pet. I lived in the capital, and what I ate almost every day was beans, chicken, rice, beef and fish. NO GUINEA PIGS, they are adorable. |
