it is a beautiful country... crib of the Mayan Civilization.... full of colors..... nice and warm people...........called the Eternal Spring Country

you can take a look in
www.visitguatemala.com

or contact me I am a Guatemalan girl

chato
The city is very beautiful, the weather is perfect "it is the city of eternal spring". The city is pretty but the really beautiful sites are outside the city, Coban, TIKAL, Xela, Antigua, Esquipulas, Amatitlan and Panajachel.

You can find a lot of info here www.visitguatemala.com. If you want ot come visit me email I live in Guatemala.

Matt
If you can imagine some of the more run down areas of any big city then it will give you a good picture of Guatemala City. Sure it has some good parts but most areas look like the worst parts of my home town, here in Phoenix which is similar to the bad areas of Los Angeles. Lots of fast food places, auto shops, etc.

I would recommend leaving Guatemala City as soon as you can and see the true beauty of Guatemala. The rest of the country is very stunning. Antigua is one of the more well off towns due to tourism. Many rural areas have high poverty but look much better looking surroundings than Guatemala City.

Sorry if I offended any from Guate, but I think this would be a similar point of view for many.
