Chile would be the country withthe most diverse cultures, from the arid desert areas in the north to fascinating cities & smaller towns, with in the coastal to the magnificent mountain areas inland & the settlements on the southern most tips, Chile is a contry with many different ethnic groups, european settlers that have choosen to live in Chile, the absolute variety of its landscapes, people & basic diversity, without the fear of dangerous rebel groups hindering travel. Far more bang for your $$$ & much more to see & savor. Peru has Cusco, Macho Pichu & Lima, quite beautiful, but in total Chile has the safety, variety & diverse beauty for the traveler. |

i'm from scotland and i lived in peru for 5 years i would say the best years of my life i worked for electro peru and visit machu pichu twice i lived in lima most of the time and enjoyed most of my stay i lived in the (barranco district) the food is the best i have ever tried i even still prepare some dishes at home here in scottland,i really want to go back there and settle thats how wonderful was my stay, you have a nice temperature that ranges from 12 to 24 degress all year long can you beat that? and is the only capital city in latin america stablish on the shores of the pacific ocean, the hottels are as modern as any others in the world and many that i could not even afford, i stayed at a 3 stars hotel that was a bargain ,the money coversion is about 3 soles for 1US dollar ,the quality of the products in peru are excellent, the arquitecture in Lima is colonial and barroco stiles ,you will see many palaces in the downtown that where build in the time of the conquistadores or the colonial years, many restaurants excellent food and i repeat excellent food, lots of potencial for businesses, clothes are very good quality and prices are affordables, you can find every brand you can name DG,nike, adidas, reebok, lecoof sportif, etc
the city is a modern city with ATM's,burger kings, mac donalds and very soon even wallmart, shopping malls are very common and when you are in it feels just like europe,
you wont miss a thing ,discos and video-pubs are just like any where else in america , is awesome, the riches culture in south america, lima is world patrimony for its arquitecture and for being the only capital in all of latin america established by the pacific; the city like any other city can be dangerous if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time , do that in any city and you will see ;i lived there for 5 years and i have no regrets just craving to go back to peru,
the spanish spoken along with colombian is the best pronounced acording to the royal spanish academy , i dont think you can say the same about chile , i can tell you for my own experiences because i already visit chile and i rather stay in peru by far the most complete of the two countries, more to see ,ruins, beaches, amazon jungle you can also ski there are many ski resorts and as i say before you cannot enjoy better food than peruvian food even in chile, oh and if you look for the most outstanding economy in latin america in the last five to seven years with a grow rate of 8% anualy you will be going to peru, chile's economy growing rate is at 4% anualy businesses just boom out there in peru for having an excellent whealth of natural resorces, and for that reason is very atractive to investors ;besides that energy and utilities are very afordable compared to chile that is why you will even find many chilean factories, companies and investments in peru.
peru has an open economy base on investments, exports and is being very well managed and terrorist groups are not a concern anymore, well it hasn't been since the year 2000 i would love to keep writing many things about this beautiful place called peru but i think that i would have to spend days to do it , if you have a chance go and enjoy Peru by far the best of the two that you mention in your question. |

Hard to say.

Okay, I'd go to Chile.
Cos I still have lots more to see and do. |

Night Slayer IS NOT Scottish. He is Peruvian and hates Chile. It does not take a genius to know that Chile has a far better economy than Peru. Of Course, his answer is biased. Just read any serious resource in economics and you will find out. I love Peru and Peruvians, but their economy sucks, their levels of puberty are awful and their President is a guy who in the Past had an order for arrest for corruption. |
