I've been to both. If I could go again I would choose Costa Rica. It's so beautiful and exotic. It's also more affordable. |

Already amidst that choice....having been to both, Hawaii is absolutely gorgeous in every way, but totally unaffordable to live comfortably (unless you have mucho$$ *wink).
We chose Costa Rica & finally began building our Bungalows there. Great people as well...Pura Vida! |

Patricia, I was stationed in Hawaii for 22 months when I was in the military, and I have lived in CR for 20 months, and have visited ~12 times. There is no comparison as to Costa Rica and Hawaii.... Hawaii is very touristy, (over) pricey, congested, and the same weather everyday... CR, has so much to offer, from the jungles, los playas, the mountains, the culture and "comida tipica", from Cartago to San Jose to Escazu, to Puerto Limon... I cannot tell you that you will fall in love with CR the miniute you land at the airport, until you are sad that you have to leave. |

I must be honest: I have not been to Hawaii, but I know a lot about it. I would choose Costa Rica, even though both places are beautiful, C.R. is a lot cheaper and friendlier. |

I've been to both places (Costa Rica twice). It's funny you ask this question . . . because when I explain Costa Rica to friends . . . I tell them it's what I imagine Maui was like 50 years ago. We took a offshore fishing trip in Manuel Antonio, and on our way back to the docks I noticed you couldn't see a single building on the beach. The rain forests in Costa Rica grow right up to the beach. Unbelievable natural beauty. |

the people are 100000000000000x more friendly in Costa Rica, however there are earthquakes there. (I know, i was there during a 7.4 one and havent been back, since) |
