There are many places where you can work with little or no Spanish. Call centers, sports books, hotels, restaurants, anything involving tourism just to name a few. The problem is trying to get a work permit, but some companies will still hire you and pay you cash. You can see job listings in Elempleo.com, and you can find a listing of many businesses in Costa Rica in the TicosLand web directory.

It depends what part of CR you live in, you can work in Tourism, you can work at Hewlett-Packard or a call center that has contracts with companies from around the world that need bilingual customer service reps. There is a lot of work for people that speak English as long as you have a work permit or are a citizen. But you have to know that the jobs donÂ´t pay not even what minimum wage is considered in the states, they pay between $600 to $800 if youÂ´re bilingual a month. If youÂ´re a English teacher you can make between $1k to $1,500 a month and if you had a Degree in International Business or Computer Sciences or a career with high demand then you would be able to make a lot more money. It all just depends on what you have to offer like everywhere else. But if your curious to see how it is to live in CR like many others have and done then go ahead for the adventure. Enjoy the beaches and all the Eco and adventure there is to enjoy.

Costa Rica is a great country, with a diverse offering of employment. You may be limited based on whether or not you get a work visa here in Costa Rica. If you already have the work visa, the fact that you speak english will be a big asset, and a lot of the options that are mentioned in other answers are good options.

If you donÂ´t have a work visa, you will end up having to do one of two things:
1) Find a company that will sponsor you.
2) Figure out how to do a consulting contract and leave the country every 90 days since you would have entered as a tourist.

There are people who take advantage of other "options" but you would do that at your own risk.

I think that working for a Sport books company would be good for you as they need people who speak English. I've heard they pay really well.
Also, you could teach English in a school or work in a hotel.
