Sorry, but the weather is not ok in September. I keep trying to tell people that it's historically the rainiest month of the season, followed closely by October. You can expect rain and plenty of it, approximately 12 inches, in fact. It doesn't mean it will rain all day every day. You might get 2 or 3 days without rain, or you might get the same amount of days with non-stop rain. The mornings will be warm and sunny, with rain starting at around noon and ending at about 6 or 7 pm. It is now 5:51 pm in Costa Rica and it has been raining since around noon. It is tapering off, though. The nights are usually dry and cool. Oh! You do know that Monteverde is a Cloud forest, right? Damp, very damp for sure. Bring your rain gear and always take an extra change of clothes in your backpack.
On a high note, it's beautiful, absolutely breathtaking in places. For any other Costa Rica information, visit the TicosLand website.

The weather is ok, a little bit rainy but ok.
probably the clouds cover Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna but you can see it on sunny mornings

I tend not to mind the rain. Course I live in Florida and we have our own rainy season - so you just naturally work around it. I also like the rain in CR, it's not ugly rain - at least my experience with it has been good. La Fortuna & Monteverde are really great places to visit. Beautiful and fun. Spend a rainy day in the hot springs! Be sure to take a night tour of the volcano and do a Canapy tour in Monteverde. Most of the time I just go about my business as usual, and if the rain gets to be too much, I take it as a time to grab a bite to eat. I also start every morning very early to make the most of the day. Often I'm back at my room watching on my balcony before it ever hits - love to watch the rain come in. Don't get discouraged by it - just make sure you bring appropriate cloths and a rain proof bag for you camera - and you'll be fine :)
