In costa rica do girls celebrate the quinceanera?

Most Latin American countries celebrate their 15th birthday and not the sweet sixteen like in the US. There always a part, where the girl dances first with her dad and then with a date. The dress is usually pink and there's cake, a DJ, all relatives and friends attending. It's like the official date when a girl is considered a woman. In Costa Rica there are quinceañeros but nowadays, girls usually ask for a trip abroad instead of a huge party.

Yes they do , like most Latin american countries

I've been invited to a few quincenas. I find it hard to accept a 15 year old as a woman , but I realize it is an old custom. The first time I saw the changing of the shoes I cried LOL. The b'day girl came in in low heeled shoes, and after a while the mom did the changing of the shoes to HIGH HEELS, signifying womanhood.
It's an expensive party so not even 1/5th of the girls have these parties.

Yes, They do

JD

Wavydave

hahahah I am costa rican and yeah some people specially from rural areas celebrate it.

I didnt celebrate it LOL , thats an old fashion custom!!!

Girls celebrate their 15th or 16th offering a big party or visiting another country, some ask their parents for a cosmetic surguerie or some $$$ and others for a car but they cant drive it until they get 18 y.o
