There are far better and more interesting places to visit than Mexico. Each country has something unique about it. The mayan ruins in Belize are much less touristy than those of Mexico. Maccu Picchu is a great place. Zipaquira in Colombia is pretty cool, a cathedral built in a salt mine. The plains of Nazca, Easter Island, The Galapagos, The Panama Canal, Los Katios, Ciudad Perdida, San Augustin, Iguazu falls, The Pampas of Argentina, Bariloche, Uruguay for its european influences, Dominican Republic and Brazi for the beaches. Carnival in Brazil. The jungles and rainforests of all parts of central and south america,. The Blue hole in Belize, Turks and Caicos island, Malpelo, Gorgona to see whales, There are too many interesting places in each country that you could spend a lifetime in EACH country and never see it all.

I would say that the most interesting place to visit is Machu Picchu, which is in Peru. Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas" and it is also one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It is a very popular place to visit, tourism reached 400,000 visitors in 2003.

If I had to reduce to just one place in all Latin America I would definately choose CUZCO!

Cuzco is the only place I've been where you really feel that time has stopped. Other places could be overwhelming but you definately know you are in that place in the present.

This sensation comes to you from all kinds of stimulations like the beatifull uncrouded landscapes, the food free of pest control chemicals, the local panpipe music, the people dressed the same as 500 years ago, whatching people carrying everything on their backs (child, sack of potato, luggage) or using the Llamas and mules to move heavier things. No wonder many people go there and instantly fall in love with the place and stay for good!

The dwellers have their ancient customs that are not a stage show for the tourist, they really give offerings to the earth (vegetables or dead guinea pigs) for a better crop season.

They also know how to dehydrate tuberculae. They throw out the freshly harvested potato to the open land before sundown, then during the freezing night every drop of water inside the potato is exudated on the intent to expand itself to form ice and finally melts and evaporates in the next morning's sun.

Beleve me. It's something from out of this world!

It depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for cities, Argentina is your destination (Buenos Aires). Argentina is the best country to live in, by far.
If you are looking for beaches, Brazil and Colombia are the best. Cartagena in Colombia is great!
If you are looking for jungles, Ecuador is the spot.
If you are looking for Andes mountains, Chile and Peru have the most beautiful mountains. Ecuador has some beautiful ranges too outside of Quito.
If you are looking for the Carribean experience, then Jamaica is the best. (Watch out for Rasta drug dealers though, in Colombia too.)

Tikal in Guatemala. The view from temple IV, in these mayan ruins, is breathtaking.
