How's this for an interesting fact: Did you know that about 12% of Costarican land is either national parks or protected lands?

I'm costa rican, and please more respect to all WOMEN of this country, being or not a prostitute, they are human beings after all, and not all women in this country are prostitutes!!!

Interesting facts of CR:

Most of prostitutes on San Jose Downtown are colombian or nicaraguan immigrants.

Military Forces were abolished on November 1949 on the declaration of the 2nd Constitution of Costa Rica, denominated by government: "Foundation of the second republic"

Cocos Island was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997

All Costa Rican National Parks are around the 26.3 percent of the country, including La Amistad National Park (Biggest one with 1991 km2, Manuel Antonio, the smallest 16 km2, and Cocos Island 500 km from Continental Land), and all these national park have approx. little bit more of 2% of the world biodiversity.

Guanacaste province, where beaches and hotels call the attention of tourist, get annexed to Costa Rica in 1812. They decided to get annexed to Costa Rica instead to Nicaragua, because nicaraguans had and still have political problems.

Guanacaste give to "ticos", most of their culture, including the typical dance, the "gallo pinto" breakfast (rice and beans prepared with cilantro and some species, and served with hot coffee and tortillas), also beaches were given to costa ricans (nowadays the mayor income of government), etc.

Some fast food restaurants have the Gallo Pinto on their menu, some are: McDonald's, Burger King, Subway and Denny's

Christopher Colombus arrived to Cariari (now called Uvita Island), Limon province, on 1505 on his 4th and last trip. He supposely denominated "Rich Coast" in Spanish when he saw all the natives wearing gold adornmets on their chest and all the natural resources.

Arenal Volcano is the only Hot Spot Volcano in all the country, as Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii, but the Costa Rican Volcano have the conic shape.

Some terrains on beaches cost from $2.000 to $30.000 the m2

"Pura vida!" (Pure Life!) is the most common motto used, and means "very well", if it's question means "how are u doing?"; "mae" is a local idiom use to say dude or man; so "what's up dude!" is "Que mae!"

Illegal fishing is the main problem of Costa Ricans guardcoasts in Cocos Island

Addresses are not exact, references are used, including places no longer exist, for example, the Pavas busses are in front of the Ancient Building of Coca Cola in San Jose Downtown. The address of my parents is: "From University of Costa Rica 200 meters west and 100 meters north"

100 meters are approx. 1 block in San Jose Downtown

Approx 60% of immingrants are Nicaraguan, 20% Colombian and the rest include peruvians, panamenians, europeans, americans and chinese.

Costa Rica, as same as all the Central America countries, is over the Caribbean Plate, and because of subduction with the Cocos plate, earthquakes are very ussual.

Costa Ricans are called "Ticos" because on the War against Nicaraguans they here the costa rican saying a lot of words with the "-tico" suffix (that means little or less as Little thing = Algo chiquitico)

Costa Ricans Spanish accent is very similar to the colombian high class accent.

Costa Rica is one of the most bio-diverse places in the world. Its land mass percentage of world land mass is much, much smaller than the percentage of insects and animals compared to the rest of the world.
