Is Costa Rica as gorgeous as it looks in pictures?

Costa Rica is beautiful. As one of the other posters said, not all of it only parts of it, but I find that I love pretty much everything outside of San Jose. San Jose is just a big city and has all the problems that most big cities have. The rest of the country is lush jungle, incredible wildlife and breathtaking beaches. There are volcanoes, hot springs, cloud forest and rain forest. I'd be happy to send you some of my vacation pics from my last couple of trips if you want to see some realistic views.

Suzy Homemaker has either never been there, or spent her entire vacation in the slums of San Jose. Or perhaps she's confusing Costa Rica with somewhere else. Costa Rica is NOT a 3rd world country. It is listed as a 2nd world country or "developing nation".

As a visitor there I'd have to say the pictures only show part of the beauty. The rest is in the hospitality of the people.

As with any place, the pictures only show you the good parts. However, a friend of mine is from there and she loves it. So I would say that yes, parts of it are gorgeous.

Yes, Costa Rica is stunning. I just returned from Costa Rica in February and had an amazing time.

I went there for my honeymoon in late sept/early oct for 14 days.
We stayed at one place for 4 days and it was so damn beauitful we booked another 3 days there. We had a bungalo looking out to Arnenal Volcano. When we woke up the first thing we saw opening our eyes was this majistical huge volcano. It really is beauitful.
I haven't traveled to many places but we both vowed that this would be our "big vacation spot" We plan to visit for 2 weeks or so every 5 years.

Go if you can and try to see as much as possible.

We zip lined, took an ATV tour, white water rafting.

The second week we stayed at Paradisus playa conchal..for a 5 star resort it wasn't anything special. The first week was much better and I would sacrifice the ocean for the beauitful views we got at Arenal.

Of course not. No place is. (The only place I've ever seen that somehow looked just like its pictures is the Panama Canal.) THe pictures are carefully made, edited, recently extensively photo-shopped, and so often completely misleading.
Still lots of C.R. is as gorgeous as any other place in the world but no more so. But lots of Costa Rica is awful too, although there are many places in the world far worse.

It is beautiful! You must visit, the sights are many and not to be missed.
You won't regret it. It truly is a gorgeous country.

Yes it is as beautiful as it looks in pictures because they are just pictures... there ae the bad parts like with any other country where you see tin roofs on houses and stuff but there is still a lot of beautiful scenery and a lot of fun things to do (eg. canopy tours and zip-lining).
