I know its in Central America but is it somehow in the caribbean? Because for example if someone asked you where in the caribbean would you go, would Costa Rica be a valid answer?

yes and no
costa rica has and caribbean coast... all the east cost in in the caribbean sea, but, when you say that a country is caribbean you are meaning the that country is an island located in caribbean sea, like republica dominicana. And costa rica is not an island, is in continental plataform.

Melissa G
Costa Rica has the Caribbean Sea to the right and the Pacific to the left. So I would say yes.

I think if someone asks where to go in the carribean, they are talking about the Islands. Anyway Costa Rica is bordered by the Caribean on one side and the Pacific on the other. Nicaragua to the north and panama to the south. i lived there for 10 years.

Italian Guy
Costa Rica, is in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. show in this pic

The east coast of CR is the Caribbean sea and the west coast of CR is the pacific and they are only a little more than 50 miles apart from each other so the cool thing is that in CR you can go to the Caribbean and pacific ocean in a short amount of time.

Costa Rica is located on the Central American Isthmus. It is bound by the Pacific Ocean to the southwest and west, Nicaragua to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the northeast and Panama to the southeast. It has a series of volcanic ridges that make up its backbone, although topographically it can be divided into three zones. 1.The central highlands which consist of two upland basins, the Cartago to the east and San Jose to the west which are separated by low volcanic hills. 2. The Pacific coastal zone which consists of the Palmar Lowland Complex, the Guanacaste Plain, the Cordillera de Guanacaste, the Tempisque River Valley and the peninsulas of Burica, Osa and Nicoya. 3. The Atlantic coastal zone which is a low swampy and heavily forested plain.

You can say that part of Costa Rica is on the Caribbean. The province of Limon takes up the entire Caribbean coast. There are six other provinces in Costa Rica. If you want more information about Costa Rica, check the TicosLand website.
