Is June a good season to visit Guatemala?

I am planning to visit guatemala in early or mid june. Someone told me it will be rainy season at that time. would it be a real bad idea visiting in June? if not, where will be the best places go to within a week?

Casual Traveler
I spent a month in guatemala in June 2005 and it was indeed beautiful. However, I recommend going from between November and March. It's less rainy and the temp is nearly the same. They call it "The land of the Eternal Spring" for a reason. If you go in June, it will be fine, but Storms will blow through quite at least once a day. Sometime's it will rain for 10 minutes and then no more the rest of the day. The only danger is that later in the rainy season, July - September, there are more mudslides because the ground has been saturated with water and softened for months. As you will see when you get there, it's all mountains. You should be fine, just sometimes roads are closed because of minor mudslides and rockslides. Don't let the rainy season deter you from going.

rainy season is just starting and the weather is great! enjoy your time. Panajachel is fabulous (watch your luggage), Tikal are the best Mayan ruins in Central America, the mountains are great. Quetzatrekkers do great trips up volcanoes!

You should just go to Bagdad, it's safer there than anywhere in Guatemala!
