Yes it is, it's the wine capital of Argentina. I've been there a couple of times, it's a very nice region. I stayed at the Park Hyatt and I visited many wineries, the landscape was simply breathtaking. Apart from Buenos Aires and the Patagonia region, Mendoza is my favourite place in Argentina. Very good food, very good leather goods too. It is worth the visit!

Yes, Mendoza is beautiful. The city is mostly French in architecture and towards the country side there are lots of vineyards visit. I highly recommend you come to Mendoza. Here are some pictures to show you:

We use to visit Mendoza when we lived in Santiago, Chile. Great drive over the mountains to get to Mendoza. Its right at the foot of the mountains. What I remember is the walking around in the centro part of town. Very pleasant and good restaurants and wine is everywhere.

There's an Italian ice cream shop that is the fanciest one I've ever seen. Everything inside was stainless steel, and the ice cream was great.

I'm not sure I would want to spend a week in the area but a few days would be very enjoyable.

Situated at the foot of The Andes, Mendoza is the capital city of the province and the most important city of the West of Argentina. It is one of the most chosen tourist destinations because of the various interesting activities available in the region.
It is an incredible oasis to grow fruits and vegetables due to the presence of the Mendoza and Tunuyán Rivers. The climate of the region is mild though the mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. The temperature in Summer ranges from 18º C to 33º C and days are hot and nights are fresh. In Winter, the minimum temperature is 3º C and the maximum registered temperature is 16º C.
