Prescriptions from doctors from other countries are not valid in any country in the world. For your prescription to be valid (in any country) a legal resident doctor from that country has to sign the prescription. My advice, as you will be living in Ecuador, will be to take your medical history chart there and find a doctor who can be your attending physician and prescribe you xanax. Xanax is legal in Ecuador but only if prescribed by a local doctor. This is international medical law.

I dont know in Equator, but for sure many of the latin american countries have their own rules for that. Some countries only allow self countries prescriptions. And it is logic.
How can they know if your doctor really exists???
The best thing you can do, is to bring a letter from your doctor and contact someone from american embassy in Equator to tell you what to do without break the equatorian laws. That are embassies for. They have to help you.
On the contrary......bring the Xanax with you from USA with a letter from your doctor saying you need it.

The answer would be no. You need a local registered Dr to issue you a prescription for Xanax or equivalent. The suggestion made to visit the US Embassy there for directions is quite proper.
