I am not from Colombia, but my father is and I have traveled there many times in my life. Mostly to Bogota, but I have also been to Medellin, Zona Cafetera, Cucuta, and many of the smaller cities around Bogota. I absolutely love Villa de Leyva and plan to buy a finca there in the next few years.

Bogota has really come a long way in the past several years. All the green spaces they have created are beautiful. And, the pollution is down as well, with the introduction of trans millenio and pico y placa, among other things. Oh, and the restaurants in "Zona G" are awesome. Try to get to Astrid y Gaston if you can. I was there a few weeks after they opened ... great food and awesome drinks!

Here's a site my uncle developed. Not to brag for him, but he is an awesome photographer and has been to many special places in Colombia (he lives there). On his site, you'll find nice pictures of the flora of Colombia, as well as pictures of many birds. A few pics of our finca in Subachoque as well. I love spending time at our finca. Very peaceful, great weather, and a fun place to get together with family and friends. We usually have a big bbq when we go during the day, then everyone heads inside at night to drink beer and aguardiente and sing and dance and relax in front of the fireplace.

I'm from Medellin, but have been living in Atlanta, GA for four years now.
I haven't been able to go back yet, but when I go, I really want to go to Medellin and visit all of my friends and my family. I also want to go to the amazons, to la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Cartagena and wherever else I have a chance to go to!!! Colombia is wonderful and has a lot of interesting places, I mostly want to go to ecological places.
And I don't know why there's not a category for Colombia, I have been wondering the same...

OMFG. the above answerer must be a ******* moron. seriously, dumbass, do you *know* colombia to state Cali (CALI, for god's sake) is dangerous, and, oh, "Ecuador" being much cooler?

wow, do you have a bias? loser.

btw, it doesn't take much to be a "tourism professional", so don't brag about it.

As a tourism professional, who doesn't scare easy, I still think that for leisure travel it's not the most indicated; though things are getting better, as long as you stay out of Cali and the amazonic regions.
Ecuador is much cooler.
