SUE,

You used the fact of portuguese be originay from latin as argument. Based is a similar reasoning, BRAZIL IS A GREEK COUNTRY, also, because our language has about 50% latin and 50% greek as origins. But, nobody say it.

Other: if to use latin words configure a nation as "latin", the United States is a latin country, because there are many latin words there. Hotel, consulation, annual, manual, velocity, city, excess, sucess, etc are all latin in origin.
Spain settled the USA (part), also, but this make them latinos?

I think that is a racist form to call others inferior race, because this is the stereotype of a "latino" and I'm not the person who has invented this....

Yes it is...

SUE
You don't hablan espaƱol, but you DO speak Portuguese, right? And isn't Portuguese a Latin-based language? Doesn't that make you Latin?

After all, the definition of "Latin America" is that it is America, first, and second, that the language of the colonizers was Latin-based. So, yeah, Brazil is Latin...and, by the way, from what I understand, many Brazilians DO speak Spanish, even though it is not the official language.

Thiago
Brazilian culture is very different from the other spanish spanish speaking countries, both language wise and history/descend ency wise. But it does come from a Latin branch like Italian and spanish (which is why all three languages sound alike but each with being a language on it's own) but is it really Latin? Unless there is another category I believe Latin is as close as we can get but definitively NOT spanish.

come on
first portuguese come from latin languages in europe
second Brazil is pluri cultural and multi race, normal of latin america
third constrasts of poverty and rich
and finally the music

yes it is, first of all Brazil is in Latin America and second both spanish and portuguese come from Latin.that's why there is a lot of words that assimilate in both spanish and portuguese.
