Neither. Geographically and politically it is considered a separate area.
It is, of course, part of Latin AMerica. In Spanish speaking countries there is one continent called The Americas, with the 3 subdivisions of North, Central and South.

Technically speaking, it is a part of the North American continent. Panama is the last country before you reach the South American Continent (Colombia).

neither its just central america the center of america and if you dont know there are 7 countries whch most of the peolpe dont know that are Belice, Guatemala, HONDURAS, El Salvador , Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama there where only 5 in the past excluding Panama and Belice
