Labor laws forbid it, and if someone under 18 wants to work he need a legalized permition from both parents. This is in the formal economy. Even so there are many small companies that we call "unformal" because they don't pay taxes and are difficult to trace for that same reason. They are usualy runned by members of a same family and exploit even the youngest members, but at least in this case, they earn some money or the money stays in the family.

You can also see children looking out for your car in any commercial neighborhood and oh yeah, the tipical shoeshining kid who prefers to make money instead of going to school. what you don't know is that behind them are adults who take away part of the profit so they can use that part of the city.

There's another form of child labor going on, specialy in Lima. You see children posted on every street light in the best neighborhoods asking for money, juggling a set of 3 or 4 tennis balls, asking to wipe your windshield or making any kind of gymnastic trick. These kids don't even know how to get there, they are brought in pickup trucks by someone who rents them to their parents in exchange of a daily profit. Unresponsable parents spoil their childrens education and childhood for a few coins, if poberty was the reason then . . . . Why don't you see beggars in the provinces? Because in the provinces there aren't white whealthy people that are affected whenever they see a poor person in a street corner and feel compelled to help them out. Well there's a MAFIA going on that noticed this and they are making a lot of money filling the streets with beggars.

Yes, absolutely. I lived in Peru for eight years and children do almost any type of work available because of extreme poverty in Peru. Just outside of the Lima Airport you will find dozens of shoeshine boys begging you to shine your shoes. Children carry heavy loads in markets for a few pennies. Many children are forced into prostitution also. Children work on farms and in some factories also. Many Peruvian children do not attend school because they need to work to help support their families. It is a very sad situation and is very common in poor latin American Countries.

Yes, but only in the informal sector... I don't know what the official age is that people are aloud to start working in peru but I'm positive that they start earning money way before that age... From a very young age kids have to start earning there own money or helping out to provide for the rest of the family...

Of course, you can see four-years-old kids selling candys from bus to bus............It's horrible, and parents use their children cause they know a kid is going to inspire more compassion!
