The people are very friendly. I have lived here over 15 years and still like it. Have had a few things stolen over the years and logical thinking will get you nowhere. But overall it's a nice place.

Yes it is. People are very friendly, specially to tourists. Of course you have to follow common sense safety rules when traveling, specially in the city, where there are a lot of pickpockets. There is a high percentage of white people in Costa Rica, contrary to other countries in Central America, and many speak english. In general, we are peace loving people, friendly and easygoing. The most popular sport in Costa Rica is soccer, so you will fit in just right. Have a great time, enjoy our country. Pura Vida!

Costa Rica is a beautiful, nice country. They like gringo's, especially in the small towns. The people are really wonderful. Know some Spanish though, especially in the non-americanized towns that are far from civilization.

You shouldn't have any problems, but don't be stupid either.

Its a nice country. I'm Costa Rican and also live here and I'm proud of it. If you are stress for sure you will enjoy our different Hot Springs areas with an amazing view to the volcano or rainforest. Costa Rica is a totally tropical country and I can warranty u will come back. If u want to see some photos or want information, let me know. guerrerorebeca_ch@ecologicallandtours.co... info@ecologicallandtours.com or yahoo "dbeca19"

One of my cousins went to Costa Rica this past December for a wedding and I saw the pictures and it's beautiful! She said that it's looks much nicer in person and did not want to leave the country. And I have heard the people are nice. I am from Central America and who is not nice there?

JD
good???trouble???white???... come visit and you'll see. there was a girl from bristol that came to costa rica and we travelled around costa rica and we sure did had a great time... i took her to nice beaches and places she won't forget

Julie
Costa Rica is fabulous! We are in the middle of moving there from the USA - that is how much we think of it. The usual response to "thank you" is "with much pleasure." Even in large towns, people passing you on the sidewalk will say "adios" or "buenas," and sometimes strike up a conversation - of course, this is when knowing Spanish helps :). If you are going to be here any length of time, it is easy to get a couple of weeks of immersion Spanish classes. These are often offered with a "homestay," where you live with a family. You *really* get to know the pura vida then!

The Costa Rican people are some of the friendliest on earth...there is an upswing in crime at this time but if you use your head and common sense you should be fine.

kittkatt
Let's put it this way... there's a very good chance you'll never want to leave! :) Pura vida!!!
