Is it dangerous to go to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires on your own?

I'd like to travel with my husband to Rio de Janeiro, Iguasu falls and Buenos Aires. However, we usually travel alone and not in a group. Is it dangerous to do so?

No, it is safe since you take some cares.
In Rio de January, don't stay at Copacabana stays at a hotel in Barra of Tijuca, it is safe and comfortable. You will walk and to know a very beautiful city, avoid Copacabana is very stamped for thieves because almost the tourists' stays there, in Barra of Tijuca, only accommodate Brazilian tourists that it moves away the thieves. In Foz de Iguaçú I was there are many years ago, it is a very beautiful place, but as it is close of the border has many smuggler, it would be advisable that you in Rio de Janeiro hired a company of tourism for it received you when you arrived there. As for Buenos Aires I was accommodated at the Concord Hotel, I went without tourist group and I didn't have problems, I walked with easiness, the very nice healthy Argentineans and I only hired a walk for the city as soon as I arrived to know superficially, later I had been alone. I embarked in a train in the station of the Retiro in the center of Buenos Aires I knew several neighborhoods of the capital without problems.

I don't know but you can call Sarah Palin cuz she can see it from her pool.
Seriously, the state department maintains travel advisories on there website that would be much more useful than blind opinions here.

Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires are huge cities, just like in any large metropolitan things can get hectic resulting in crimes. Just use your best judgment. Buenos Aires has a huge nightlife, so lots of people come out at night and Rio is crazy especially during Carnival. Also I am going to warn you now. My dad is Argentine and I know a lot about both countries, so I am going to warn you now. Both Argentines and Brazilian men are notorious to yell at women in the streets in a flirtatious manner. They are like the biggest flirts ever and would say anything that runs through their head do not be offended that the typical culture and they mean it in compliments.

I have been to Buenos Aires and it isn't so much dangerous as it is that you need to keep an eye on your stuff so it doesn't get taken. I was there for 3 weeks and never had anything bad happen except one bus station had 2 kids that were thieves that were working with the cops but we didn't give them a chance to take anything. Good luck have fun

yeah...definately shouldnt. especially cuz brazil is very dangerous, and most of the time, if ur with a large group, the banditos do not try messing wit u. trust me on this one, because i go to guatemala every year which is the 7th most homicidal country in the WORLD. and, i'd say not to go alone.
