Sure...it is a terribly long trip and driving thru Mexico is very challenging...but it can be done. Best route in Mexico is along the Gulf coast...and I have driven most of that. Roads are mostly good and some very good on that route. See map at 1st site below. Need to add about an extra day's driving time...this site is always too optimistic. Unexpected things always happen, extra delays, road construction, etc. To drive through Mexico, you will need to get a car permit at the border...see 2nd site. Also, you will need Mexican car ins...see 3rd site for my favorite. You will need to get a car permit and car ins for Guatemala at the border there. You should also get a Guia Roji...the Mexican road Atlas...can get it in large bookstores or at Amazon .com.
