Ye well in my opinion is safe.....but in reality it depends on the zone that u'r going ..there are some areas that are known to be dangerous so it's better if u stay away from them...I've lived there all my life and i have never been robbed...

If you take proper precautions you should be all right--take known cabs, don't withdraw money from an ATM in the street, go with people who know the area and forget about walking about with cameras etc.
Colon has severe gang problems, so severe that they cancelled high school participation in the local independence day parades because they could not gaurantee the safety of local high school band members along the parade routes.

It is dangerous if you dont know where to go or walk around in tropical shirts.
Go with a cab or a tourist guide who knows the area. And be alert as in any city. |

Not really, i had gone to Colon because i had to visit my family, my father is from Colon. It seemed dangerous for me, being a 16 yr old American girl, but i wuz with a lot of ppl who were my family, so it wuz safe. Just don't go alone. |

Colon unfortunately is not a very safe place, but it all depends on where you are in Colon. Be alert if you are walking the streets and do not carry jewelry with you. A hip hugger is a safe idea too. |
