Not at all, in fact yesterday in El Comercio (major peruvian newpaper) there was an articule about this, how all this is a hoax and that they have now limit the number of people to 5,000 per day, due to the amount of rubbish tourists were leaving behind. No plastic bottles are allowed inside and there will be a 100 dollar penalty for each item that you leave as rubbish and not put it in the proper container.
So no, just relax as Machu Picchu will not close!

That sounds like some bolsh!t. The Inca ruins of Machu Picchu are a major tourist destination and the entire economy of Cusco practically revolves around tourism. There are already conservation efforts in place and none of them include shutting down the ruins.
No plans to close, but maybe limit the # of visitors.
