No, marijuana is illegal in Costa Rica. However, it seems many people do smoke it and the law is rarely enforced. If you do decide to smoke it while there, just make sure you buy it when you get there and you don't bring any of it home with you. |

It is not legal and is widely available, cheap. What is not cheap is being a foreigner caught smoking it. You would have to be seriously deranged to let yourself be properly arrested for pot in C.R., but the bribe on the spot is going to be as high as you can bear.
People smoke fairly openly in many areas but it is a bad idea unless you are a citizen. Do not it or do it very discreetly. Don't let somebody convince you there is no risk. There is. Almost nobody gets arrested for just use but foreigners get pretty thoroughly stripped of their cash and valuables constantly. |

Depends..........if you can afford to get caught and pay off the police. A few hundred should do it. If you can't afford to pay off the police.......a Costa Rica jail will ruin your vacation.
Be smart............only loose what you can afford.
The US government will not help in drug related incidents......your on your own......... |

is illegal... but the law doesn't really seem to care enough if ur a citizen...... if you are just a foreigner then be careful! the law is always harder for foreigners (somehow the costa rica government loves to be a pain in the *** for foreigners in any subject...laws, jobs.. etc)
Costa Rican: they will not send u to jail or anything just cause ur smoking weed... just don't do it in a public place and you'll be fine..
foreigner: jail, or u might have to pay some $$$ and ur embassy will not help u.... and u can't even do it at a private place cause if they caught u.. then good luck with that... |
