Is puerto rico considered part of latin america?
for history we got assigned parts of the world and each week we need to find a news article on that part of the world..i got assigned latin america and i went on ny times and found an article on puerto rico and typed up a halff page summary..i know puerto rico is like a province of the U.S but is it still considered part of latin america? bc if not im screwed and have to find a new article =[
Yes, Puerto Rico is part of Latin America. Latin America includes Mexico, Central and South America and all the barrier islands of the Caribbean that speak Spanish, Portuguese, or French. If PR isn't Latin America, I guess that Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, the Honduran Bay Islands and many others aren't either.

Puerto Rico is a spanish speaking latin american country (associated with the US as a free associated country). So, yes, Puerto Rico is part of Latin America, it has always been.
See reference.
