Is the country chile safe? |
Hi,I'm 15 and i'm moving to chile (don't ask; it's a long story and let's just say my dad is getting a sabatical there). I was wondering if it's safe down there. I'm moving to the country side north of the capital of Santiago. Are there a lot of drugs, how's the water down there, are the people nice down there, will people bully me, and do you think chileans are nice. Also, would you say chile is safer than america or vice versa. thanks for your answers. I'm scared and it's good to get some good advice.:) |

I'm British and have been living in Santiago, working north of the City for the last 4 months.
I can't emphsise enough how good the people are.
It's safe as long as you use your common sense, don't go flashing money around in the street etc, but you wouldn't do that in any big city.
I think in general Chile is as safe if not safer than the US, of course there are good parts and bad parts of every country.
You'll like Chile for the scenery, the people, the culture and the climate. |

Clo is back from Florida !

Yes, it's very safe. I was there two years ago and was fascinated by it's beauty and how clean Santiago is. I don't know if it is safer than America but I suppose, each city in the World, has a good and bad neighborhood. |

Other than petty crime, there is nothing to be afraid of.
People are very nice to foreign. You are going to be very popular.
I used to live in Pudahuel, near the airport. Country is beautiful and Santiago has very well define stations, like Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumm.
I went to school in Jose Vitorino Las Tarreas, over Providencia and my sister went to Liceo 7. You will do well

hey! i lived in Bolivia a country which supposedly has a lot of problems with the american government. look, the news and the media turns the stories up side down. I have a lot of american friends living in bolivia and they are more than fine.
I lived in Arica chile for a few months. And let me tell you. not only is Santiago Chile safe, it is amazing!!! so close to surounding places like Iquique where you can enjoy the beaches and close to a lot of really cool places you can hike and you have no idea! you are going to love it! The food is great. Chileans are very nice people. Moving around is always a big change and getting to know new people with a different colture from yours is going to take some work. but you will learn things that you never thought were possible
chilean dialect " i pu todo va a tar bien pololo! " which means "all is going to be ok dude! "
