Is there any one from Peru that has advise to go there?
There's a different answer depending on whether you are visiting or moving there. Most Americans live in the Miraflores district and you can find quite nice apartments for $350 per month on up. Don't use the internet to search, check out the local paper, el commercio, the internet is for tourists and you'll pay many times more than a "local" will. If you're just visiting and on a budget, the hostel Flying Dog has several locations in the area that are clean, cheap and safe. Lima is a wonderful place to live except for the pollution.
The cuisine is interesting, a little over rated considering the national dish is basically pepper steak. Sunday is for pollo a la brasa, buy your broiled chicken at any metro, totus or vivanda or go to any of the chifas for pretty decent chinese. Some of the best restaurants in town won't set you back more than 50.00 if you splurge....average nice meal is about 15.00......average meal is about 5.00.
