There are four ways to get a free trip that I know of:
1) Have someone pay for your trip (parents, relatives, friends, etc)
2) Win a contest where the winner gets an all-expense trip
3) Put together a group (like travel agents, missionaries, and educational teachers do) where you get donations or change extra, and that pays for your trip
4) Have a business dealing in CR where your employer pays for the trip |

There's one the guy above me forgot.. Be a backpacker or hitch hiking. But I wont recommend hitch hiking, it's too dangerous. |

Not sure about a trip for 3... but I know there are ways to get a free trip, at least excluding airfare. Some of the real estate companies might pay for your time there if you have an appointment with them. Certain timeshares will do this as well. I am not sure if they sell timeshares in cr, but they might, and it's worth a shot! |
