Is there anywhere in Costa Rica that lets you actually hold animals? |
Just wondering. I really want to hold a sloth.
Additional Details
I'm not talking about holding or touching wild animals. I'm from Alaska i know all the details involved in a fragile ecosystem. But there are often rescues and such do offer opportunities to be up close and personal. |

at manuel antonio park there is monkeys (Cappuccino, sloth, spiders) that goes from tree to tree right in front of you. in corcovado park is the costa rica amazonas, you can find other types of animals. if you go to drake bay area... you can see whales and dolphins. at the braulio carrillo park you'll see lots of parrots as in cano negro park. and also crocodiles going to jaco beach. at tortuguero park or nosara beach you can see turtles laying eggs... |

You should never be allowed to hold a wild animal. They are in their natural habitat and should be left alone. You can leave bacteria on an animal and make them very very sick. The green sea turtle can get infected just by humans touching their shells !! So - please....forget the touchy feely stuff & take lots of pictures with a good camera. |

I don't think they have "Petting Zoos" in Costa Rica but you may want to check this out with the Hotel you will be staying at while you are there.

You can't hold the animals in Costa Rica. They are very protected from this and any time you go to a national park, the guards will keep you back from the animals but plenty close enough to get a good picture. This is for 2 reasons that I know of...one to protect the animals and 2 to protect YOU from the animals. They are wild and they can turn on you.
There are many places here that you can see the monkey's up close and personal where they will actually come up to you at the table (in restaurants close to the rainforest) but never close enough to touch, only to steal your food when you get up to go to the bathroom.
There are also a couple of zoos where you can see them up close. Two places where I have been close enough to touch the monkeys are Manual Antonio National Park and Punta Leona just outside of Jaco.
There is a travel agency here in Costa Rica that can book your trip and get you many more places with wildlife. They are good people and can book any kind of trip that you want. Their website is www.vacationcity.com.
Hope you are able to come to Costa Rica to see the wildlife for yourself soon. It is truly enjoyable to see. |
