I volunteered to teach ESL (English as a second language) in a school in Costa Rica and I can tell you children there are much more respectful than in the US. You don't say how old you are, but if you are young, I can't comment on the children's friendliness as I did on their respectfulness. But, considering how friendly the adults are and how respectful the children are, the children are bound to be friendly as well, I would think.

Costa Rica is such a good place. It is more than a beauty but this is also a place of opportunities. Ticos (people in Costa Rica) are naturally warm and friendly and may be publicly embarrassed by your refusal.

Latina_Rica
Kids in LatinAmerica in general tend to be more respectful and friendly. If something happen, tell the teacher, the teacher will solve the problem immediately. The children have a lot of respect to their teachers there but I think you won't have a problem and will have lots of friends.

Let me know how the beaches are and learn how to surf while you are there. Hope you learn Spanish too. You seem very young and now is the best time to learn a new language, take advantage of the opportunity not many people have. You won't regret it as an adult you will be able to switch from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish naturally. Good Luck.

Truth
Where i was they were nasty, but I think it was just where I was. The kids in that school were even nasty to the teachers.
