I stayed at Flamingo Beach Resort (resortflamingobeach.com) and I loved it! They have an all-inclusive package but I understand it's not available year-round, so it depends on when you're going. Check out their site for more info.

Hi! I'm costarican, married to an italian, living in Italy. We just spent a great time in Playa Coyote in a villa of my ex boss (I worked for him when I was there). He rents the bedrooms of his house (where there is only his wife). The house is new, has 8 bedrooms, it's on the beach, swimming pool, he has a boogie, they have a maid who cooks for you, the bedrooms are really great with private bathroom, AC, they have also a tv room (but I guess you wont use it! ha ha) They can arrange your trip: they pick you up at the airport, drive you to their house, they can arrange someone to come to the house to make massages, also can arrange snorkeling tour, it depends on what you want to do. The beach is great, there's no one there, it is perfect for a honeymoon!!! we spent a great time there. If you are interested, write me to bluemorpho67@yahoo.it and I'll give you all the details and his email address so you can talk directly with him. For me it was better than a luxury hotel! First identify a reputable directory of hotels in Costa Rica. Then weigh up the comparisons by star rating, location , price and amenities. Use the sort filters, descriptions and images to help you.

Then, then you have shortlisted a few, compare your thoughts to the other inputs here and elsewhere.

I really liked Barcelo Langosta in Tamarindo. Its right on the beach, the food was great, and they have live entertainment every night.
