Looking for a cheap calling card from Costa Rica to the US. Any suggestions? ?

Also, are they for sale at San Jose Airport? I will be there next week.
Thank you!

You can buy them at a supermarket. The cheapest ones are 3,000 colones. Around $6.50. Just ask for a (tarjeta de 3 mil para llamar a estados unidos). Costa Rica only has 1 phone company and its called ICE. They are the ones who provide the card. Also from any pay phone you can dial 199 and be able to make a international call out of the country. But where ever you see pay phones, usually some one near by is selling calling cards. Like i said the cheapest one is 3k colones. heres is a link that shows you what they look like. http://www.grupoice.com/esp/serv/empresa/tele/gran/telef/publica/tarjetas_telefonicas_prepagadas.htm

Calling cards are not 'officially' for sale at the airport to my knowledge.

In-country calling cards from the Costa Rica phone company ICE are available in many locations, including from vendors downtown San Jose up and down the walking boulevards.

International calling cards are also available from vendors, but I prefer using Skype ... at 2.1 cents a minute and your own on-line phone book Skype can't be beat.

The only down side is Skype requires an Internet connection - but with most hotels offering free computer access and an abundance inexpensive Internet cafe's at your disposal, Skype is easy to use throughout Costa Rica.

Oh ... almost forgot: If you rent a cell phone during your stay in Costa Rica - your Skype account with call-forwarding can even ring your International cell phone while your on the road. Those calling you will simply call your U.S. based Skype number as usual.

I've always gotten my calling cards from the hotel where I stay. They usually have them, and I've never found there prices to be bad.

all the answers are right...but in addition to a calling card you can go into an Internet place and they will have international calling also for about 2 cents a minute

Calling card to the US you will get charged international rates. The cheapest I have seen is prepaid from, http://www.callingcards.com/ @ .29 cents a minute.

I personally have not seen any international calling cards in San Jose airport. I have however seen them for sale in San Jose at the local Hallmark store right by the Presidenta Hotel. Your best bet is to get one in the US
