Going to Costa Rica, any advice on how to get downtown and cost via Taxi or shuttle? Is it safe? Hotel offers no shuttle so we are on our own. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Sorry to tell the Sofa King (second answerer) but the rainny season in Cuzco and Macchu Picchu is from January to March!!! And the trail is closed then due to mudslides. The best season to do the trek is between April and September. June and July is absolutely fabulous in Cuzco but full of tourists so things are packed. Try doing the trail in May or August where less people go there.

Like the other posters said, best to avoid the rainy season, but also, check with your travel agency or with whomever you're bookin the trek, because the Inca Trails have become so popular that the government sometimes restricts how many people are trekking at a time.

The rainy season for Macchu Picchu runs about Sept - mid dec. Best times are Jan-March. There is less rain possible then.

Well, you wouldn't want to go when it's raining, but other than that, I don't have any information. I've always wanted to see Machu Pichu myself and I know a few people who have visited it. They loved it.
