Money in Guatemala compared to the United States.?

Hey you guys. I'm going to Guatemala for two weeks, and I was wondering what the difference in money was. I know I'm going to change the money to Guatemalan money (Sorry I don't know any other way to describe it) And I was wondering, to buy food or something how much money does it cost? Like to buy a hot dog or something, like just so I have an idea. And how much money do you get in Guatemala for the United States money? Like if I gave them $200 then how much Guatemalan money will I get? Thank you,.

Beer is good for breakfast
The Q that is in other answers stand for Quetzal or plural Quetzales.

The exchange rate is going to vary a little bit, but it hoovers around 8Q for every dollar. So you'll get about 1600 Quetzales for $200.

Use this link to see what the current rate is http://finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter#from=USD;to=GTQ;amt=1 , but don't expect to get that exactly. Exchange houses make their money by selling Qs to you a t lower rate and buying them back at a higher rate. Don't trade money with somebody on the street, no matter how good of a deal they are offering you. The airport usually doesn't offer the best rates either. For just $200 I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Food is much cheaper in Guatemala. You will be able to eat cheap food on $10 - $15 /day.

For one dollar right now you get Q.8.05. To give you a idea a Menu in Mcdonalds is about Q.32.50 ($3.82) a hot dog in $ would cost you around ($0.38).

For $200 today you would get Q.1,610, but the dollar is rising so if you come around June or July you will probably will get a better exchange rate maybe $1 for Q.8.30.
