My first backpacking trip to Latin America. Need help! ? |
Looking to start my first backpacking trip through Latin America.
I was hoping to find some help with choosing a nice place to start. Somewhere were its easier and friendlier for this kind of trip and with possibly more people doing the same that could help me along the way.
I dont want to feel like in an "all inclusive cancun resort" and i would like to experience cool new things, i wanna try a variety of things, like spend time at the beach, snorkeling, checking out the sites and meeting new interesting people.
I was looking into Belize and/or Guatemala, but im open to ideas for better places... Altho i'm hoping i get to visit all these places sometime in the future.
Im planning on a 2 to 3 week trip and since its the first time i go i guess my budget is pretty open till i get more used to it.
Any help i welcomed. |

Belize would be cool. My friends toured around by canoe!
You could view some of the itineraries of some tours and either book them or travel independently along similar paths... |

Take lots of gum, people down there love gum and hate bad breath.
Very dental down there, oh.. and act like Tom Cruise..they love him down there. One thing they dont like...purple..not a big color down there..I think they think it is too science fictiony for them. |

Start with Belize and Costa Rica, unfortunately the crime wave in Guatemala and Mexico has gotten really bad since Drug dealers are trying to take control of the two countries.
Belize and Costa Rica are the safest places in Central America right now. or you could go an travel all South America. But be careful in Central America |

If it's raw popularity that you care about, then beach resorts like Cancun and Los Cabos will win hands down.
If it's in the significance of the destination, I'd say Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Iguacu, Macchu Pichu, Mexico City, etc. |
