"Marian" the Librarian

My husband and I are going to Barranquilla, Columbia for vacation this winter. What do I wear????

We are going during the time of the Carnival de Barranquilla. (The world's second largest festival!) I really don't want to stick out like a sore thumb, but my husband says typical dress is like summer-time in Florida.

Can anyone recommend some good styles, dresses, etc? Maybe provide a website or two?

Please no point hoarding, just for the sake of it.

Hello, I went there last year and it is a very nice place to visit. But always remember to be careful of pick pocketers, they are abundant, but its just simple common sense. I nice summer dress with LOTS of Colors is good, and sandals, many people there dont wear tennis shoes just simple sandals. Copy and paste the address below and it will give you all the info you need. Enjoy your trip

Dress causual and comfortable. Check the weather forcast before you go. When I go there I wear 6 pocket cargo pants and a money belt. That way I can carry my camera, passport, money, etc. in my pockets and button the pockets. You'll find Barrinquilla pretty safe as there are cops every where you look. Most place in Colombia are clamping down hard on crime to protect the tourists. The area around Cali is an exception; not too safe.

The Carnival of Barranquilla was proclaimed by UNESCO, as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The climate is hot and very humid. Daytime temperature usually remains around 30°C. but, from late November to early April, the tradewinds cool it to a more comfortable temperature during the day.
What to wear?
Do not forget your Costume!!
If dancing on the street wear comfortable clothes, if going to a club, dress to impress.

Like everyone said Just wear normal summer clothes. It’s always hot there. Don’t wear anything expensive as there may be pickpockets in the crowd and you don’t want to get anything stolen. Aside from that jsut have a great time!
