here goes my guess:
1st Cusco (the city is gorgeous, not only for visiting but for staying)
2nd Machu picchu (one of the seven wonders)
3rd there you have lot's of options:
- like the forest? go to Manu Reserve (close to cusco)
- like old architecture? besides Cusco, Arequipa is a nice city
- like adventure tourism? go to Huaraz, you can even ice skate
- like fun? plenty on Lima, just be careful
