An idea:
why don't you write about the english words that are borrowed from Quechua (the language of the incas). For example, jerky comes from the quechua word "Charky" which means dried meat. Llama is a dead giveaway as it refer to... well, llamas. Poncho, as in "rain poncho" comes from the woolen "poncho" indigenous of the andean region. Condor, guano, puma and quinine are all words used in english that come from Quechua.

Well depending on what grade in school you are doing homework for would depend on the best answer. =)

Quick summary... There were various cultures (i.e indigenous tribes) that settled within the current borders of Peru. These cultures are commonly referred to as the per-Incan cultures. This being that the Incans incrementally conquered the tribes one by one and were well known for let's say identifying the best practices from the different cultures into their new empire.

The Incans ruled the area and at times had internal feuds. Then the Spanish arrived taking advantage of this feud in the mid 16th century and conquered the Incan Empire behind the likes of Francisco Pizarro. The Spanish ruled the area into the 1800s until Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin helped lead a drive for Independence.

There have been some territorial disputes and a major military conflict between Peru and their neighboring countries since. This is what shaped the nation of Peru that you and I know today. Hope this helps. Check the link if you need more detail.

Note: In regards to it's culture, etc... Peru is well known for their Animals (Llamas, Alpalca, Vicuna, Condors), Liquor (Pisco), and the Peruvian Catholics celebrate 'Senor De Los Milagros' in October... I added a link about that as well. Enjoy.
