Political situation in Venezuela?

Is the political situation safe in Venezuela? Do you think there will be an uprising sometime this year? Is it safe for Americans to be in Venezuela in 2007, or is there risk of political chaos?

No. The political situation is very unstable. But that's not all. There are 15.000 (yes thousands) homicides a year, with 95% of them being unsolved. I lived in Caracas for many years, and in other circumstances I'd recommend Venezuela as a destination, but since that guy has been in power the country has deteriorated in every possible way. And for american citizens the situation is worse, because the president is continuosly preaching his hate for America and everything they stand for.
Please don't go to Venezuela. I had to leave already.

OK, I live in Caracas.
Political Situation? A little unstable, but not as if everything is going to turn into cahos suddenly...noooooo.
It is not as the picture given by the media to all the world....
For Americans to be here...hmmmmmmmmmmI really I dont know......I would say that yeah, its pretty safe, but it wil depend in the zone wich you are going to visit/live

P.S.: About answers above, RCTV, the television channel, its NOT getting closed, the goverment just wont renew the permision given to air in the free national frequency, but they (RCTV)keep all the equipments, buildings and stuff, they still can air on cable tv (the problem is that no one is willing to actually pay to see that channel :P)

Right now it's not safe. I think there could be an uprising because of the closure of RCTV. But I still think it is safe to be here.
