- Santa Lucia fair
- Mercado Central (Central market)
- Barrio bellavista
- cerro santa lucia
- Plaza nuñoa
- La chascona (Neruda´s home)
- Cementerio metropolitano (visit de cementery at night: tours)
- La moneda (house of goverment)
- Museo de historia natural (natural history museum)
- Museo nacional de bellas artes
- Teatro municipal
- Trip to Valparaiso and viña del mar (2 hours from Santiago)
- Cajon del Maipo (near the city)
- Viñedos concha y toro (in pirque near also)
.
and many other things.... it is a fun city (Don´t go to barrio Suecia...you can get mugged there)

Look this places up on the internet.

Just curious
There are several places that local people are going to recommend you. I'm going to tell you my favorites:
1. Walking around Barrio Bella Vista
2. Neruda's house La Chascona (if you can go out the city go to his house at the beach ISLA NEGRA)
3. Going up the Cerro San Cristobal
4. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (walking the Parque Forestal too)
5. You MUST eat fish/seafood (if is the season try LOCOS)
6. Go to a vineyard! Concha y Toro is a great choice
7. And my personal favorite is the Palacio Cousiño. Not many people know about it and it's a place that nobody recommends in Santiago I got there by coincidence. Here's the web page:

Have fun and enjoy Chilean people's warmth and hospitality!

Depends how far you want to go. some of the worlds best rafting is found in chile and some of it isn't too far from santiago:
