I believe there are two island for sale in CR, one is on the Punta Guiones Peninsula for $22 Million US (on 133 acres) and the other is Isla de Cedros on the Nicoya Peninsula (undisclosed price and 33 acres).
Both islands have all the rich and famous perks

There are allot of factors to think about. How isolated do you want to be? Do you want to take a boat or a plane every time you want to buy something? What are the maintenance costs? How safe are these locations?Costa Rica is a relatively safe place but they must have all those bars on windows for a reason. |

I'd check out this site -- it's Canadian but most discussions apply equally to anyone wishing to settle in CR. I found after ten vacations, it's tempting, but I can rent cheaper and have no worries while I'm away.
check out especially the land-ownership laws and the topic of "squatters rights".
also: the law, if it moves, moves very, very slow and often not into the direction you expect.
and be careful to get involved with a Tica, if you consider marriage -- the laws are ALL on her side, no matter what. |
